I was so excited to learn that La Grange was opening in Yardley, Pennsylvania, which is very close to where we live, because the chef, Peter Woolsey was formerly the owner/chef of Bistrot La Minette, in Philadelphia, which we frequented and loved! The owners of La Grange also own the La Stalla restaurant in Newtown, PA., another preferred haunt of ours.

As Bistrot La Minette was one of my all-time favorites, I had been saddened when it closed some time ago. We have now had dinner at La Grange thrice so far, and it is everything I expected it to be! The second time I suggested to my girlfriend Stacie that she have her birthday dinner there. To say that she was very pleased with my recommendation is an understatement.
The restaurant is in a new building with two eating areas and two bars. Typical of a brasserie, the décor is informal with a casual French ambiance. It has a very up vibe. The other dining room has its own somewhat smaller connecting bar. The waitstaff in both areas are friendly and courteous.
An exceptionally delicious bread is baked on the premises. One of the offerings consists of fruit and nuts; what I don’t consume there, I happily take home!
The cocktails are well-made; I mention this because not all places have bartenders that can make the drinks properly. I noticed a French Malbec on the menu. I have been drinking Malbec from the very beginning, before they were even imported to the U.S., as I happened to be on a trip to Buenos Aires some time ago. Since I had never tasted a French Malbec, I ordered it. I found this Malbec to be extremely palatable.
So far, I have ordered their Foie Gras Terrine (shallot marmalade, frisée salad, brioche croutons), potato leek soup (brown butter croutons parsley oil), Bœuf Bourguignon (red wine-braised beef stew, mushrooms, pearl onion, bacon lardons, potato purée) and Braised Lamb Shank (white wine-braised lamb shank, flageolet beans, braise reduction, tomato Provençal, haricots verts). This Bœuf Bourguignon is the only Bœuf Bourguignon that I liked as much as Julia Child’s.
Jon tried their Marinières Mussels (white wine-steamed mussels, herbs, butter, served with fries) and said that they were delicious. But when Jon tasted my Bœuf Bourguignon, he made a point of having it the next time!
For dessert, I had the Tarte Aux Pommes (Apple tart, caramel sauce). I liked it so much that I ordered it all three times. It’s going to take a long time for me to go through the menu!
They have different menus for lunch, dinner, and on weekends there’s brunch and mid-day! Anytime you go, I am sure that you will have an excellent culinary experience!
