Leblon Steak
Leblon Steak is a Brazilian steakhouse in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, with the famous Rio de Janeiro statue of Christ the Redeemer greeting you as you enter. The establishment provides a traditional Brazilian-style via rodizio experience, whereby numerous grilled meats are endlessly carried to and carved at your table by Gauchos until the patrons signify they have had an ample amount.
Jon and I wandered into this attractive eatery one afternoon after shopping for plants and flowers in a nursery in the hot sun. We had never been to this restaurant before, so we meandered to the bar, which I found to be nicely decorated with tasteful artificial Calla Lillies hanging overhead.
I was very thirsty, but my usual thirst-quenchers were not on the menu. As I looked for some drink that would be cool, I noted that their Classic Margaritas might fill the bill. Jon didn’t want to drink Tequila because he had had a bad experience when he was younger. I never had such an encounter, so I was game. I figured I would have their Margarita with Mango syrup, and it as absolutely delicious!
So, I had another one! Their Margaritas were so good that Tequila is now in my home bar along with Mango syrup – they are good! But not as good as the bartender’s at Leblon!
We decided to return for dinner with another couple and, you guessed it, I had another Classic Margarita with Mango syrup! In fact, so did everyone else!
I had never had Brazilian via rodizio, which is an all-you-can-eat meal, and this meal was far better than I had anticipated. After our drinks, the four of us got up to go over to the most impressive gourmet salad bar I had ever seen. It consisted of several salads and many appetizer type foods. The selection was spectacular to say the least. I was impressed, and, like on a cruise, you can eat as many dishes as you like.
Then, at the table, you have a token that you turn over to indicate that you are ready for your meal. When you display the marker, saying that you are ready for service; you then receive round after round of fire roasted meats. You are given an individual pair of small tongs to place on your plate, assisting the server with the thinly carved meats.
The extremely courteous Gaucho would arrive at the right time with a different cut of fire roasted beef, chicken, lamb and pork. And even roasted pineapple, which was an absolute treat! To those of us who initially refused, the waiter confidently said, “Try it, you’ll like it!”, and we did! It was a perfect complement to the meat.
All in all, this restaurant was a total culinary dream. Much better than I had foreseen, and nowhere else can you eat this type of cuisine. The entire evening was completely delightful.
We will return, and I suggest for you to give it a try!
